Microsoft Vs Nintendo, game on!

Today Microsoft has announced a new technology that will rival Wii, also using motion-sensing to play video games but with no controllers. At least without the use of controllers, there will be less object orientated injuries in the emergency ward… Look, I’m not a video game console kind of gal, but I have been witness to it on many occasions and will make it clear that I have won by a mile against my lawyer friend on Wii bowling… hey, I thought that was worth a statement, it’s something to be proud of! ;) But in all seriousness it may just be better than the Wii, in fact an article I read today on TIME.com stated, ‘it may just kill the Wii’.

Project Natal: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/projectnatal/

Of course as always, the success of Microsoft’s new baby depends on whether developers take it on board and write some decent games for it. Can I make a suggestion? Include a bowling game and I may just buy one…

Cloudland - cool interior design

The UFO type design of this website is kinda cool, but that’s about as far as I would go in giving it my stamp of design website approval… HOWEVER, I think the exterior and interior of this venue is all pretty amazing. I went there on the weekend and although the drinks were on the pricy side, try $18 cocktails, the interior of this place was something out of Peter Pan with a mix of Björk for good measure. Take a look, it’s different www.cloudland.tv

Give this guy a go, I bet he'll bring a skateboard for sure!

Josh “The Man” Willis, I would hire you…

Josh Willis, a US resident, is applying to be the first ever Island Caretaker in The Great Barrier Reef but more impressive (for me anyways) is the length this guy has gone to to get the job. With 4 days out of final selection, I recon Josh “The Man” Willis should win base on his website design merit and the fact that he shares the same last name with one of my all time favourite actors.

The website is simple, to the point, very illustrative and is based on a one page scrollable concept. There’s no need for loading unnecessary pages when one page does the trick! The website has taken on a life of its own in a very beardy kind of illustrative way which just adds to this guy’s obvious quirky character.

Hahahaha – I love Pac-Man! Whatever happened to him? Or that Game? Or Mrs Pac-Man? Was there ever a Mrs Pac-Man??

I have fond childhood memories of playing this game, at Sydney Airport - International Terminal, waiting for family to return from overseas, I was there a lot it seems.

It was one of those old flat top game stations with the mega big brown and red buttons. They also had Space Invaders, it was cool and, oh, I may be showing my age now…

Hello Kitty Hospital (no LOL cats here)

Strange and yet very pretty-pink and pretty-purry…

A hospital in Yuanlin in central Taiwan, claims to be the only institution of its kind authorised by the popular cartoon cat’s parent company Sanrio Co Ltd.

Newborns get everything Hello Kitty including pink or blue blankets, nurses dressed in pink uniforms with cat-themed aprons, cot linen and room décor and even the birth certificate covers portray the cat’s likeness. In the lobby, a Hello Kitty statue in a doctor’s uniform greets patients, and twice a year people in feline costumes visit mothers and children. I don’t know about you but this place would creep me out AND I’d be asking for the epidural quick smart.

God I love Japan!

Narrow House - Found it! It's in Belgium!

This is an office?! No, this is where I want to live! When can I start packing?

A Belgium-based partnership between Pieter Peerlings and Silvia Mertens from architectural firm Sculp(IT) have recently completed their office, residence and studio in what they call “Antwerp’s narrowest house”.

This place is located in Anwerp’s former red-light district, perfect I say with the colours they have chosen and the floor to ceiling window frontage ;)

They have built this beauty within a 2.4-meter wide space between two buildings, fitted in a steel frame and four wooden floors for division. Each floor is a designated zone for work, dining, relaxing and sleeping and there’s a bath tub on the roof!

I don’t know how to speak Belgianes, but I am a good learner, oh! I just want to move in!

Stainless Steel Shadows

Such a clever and cool idea!

Adam Frank is a US based artist with such a beautiful and tranquil product!

The Lumen home ware series investigates the concept between light and interactivity.

His art is a series of acid-etched, stainless steel, oil lamp shadow projectors, oh they are just so cool!

It makes me feel like I’m in the woods or a very old theatre… If you love home wares as much as I, hop to it and buy one, I love Bloom.

Tilt Shift Photography

So so cool! The method of photography is called Tilt Shift, see Wiki for more information.

They look like little Thomas The Tank Engine characters, makes me want to just pick them up and let them sit in my hand!

This video was taken at the recent Sydney Mardi Gras in March 2009 from the Court House Hotel, its a perfect vantage point for the event and strangely enough, it's the EXACT window I watched the same event from in 2008.
