Hello Kitty Hospital (no LOL cats here)

Strange and yet very pretty-pink and pretty-purry…

A hospital in Yuanlin in central Taiwan, claims to be the only institution of its kind authorised by the popular cartoon cat’s parent company Sanrio Co Ltd.

Newborns get everything Hello Kitty including pink or blue blankets, nurses dressed in pink uniforms with cat-themed aprons, cot linen and room décor and even the birth certificate covers portray the cat’s likeness. In the lobby, a Hello Kitty statue in a doctor’s uniform greets patients, and twice a year people in feline costumes visit mothers and children. I don’t know about you but this place would creep me out AND I’d be asking for the epidural quick smart.

God I love Japan!

Narrow House - Found it! It's in Belgium!

This is an office?! No, this is where I want to live! When can I start packing?

A Belgium-based partnership between Pieter Peerlings and Silvia Mertens from architectural firm Sculp(IT) have recently completed their office, residence and studio in what they call “Antwerp’s narrowest house”.

This place is located in Anwerp’s former red-light district, perfect I say with the colours they have chosen and the floor to ceiling window frontage ;)

They have built this beauty within a 2.4-meter wide space between two buildings, fitted in a steel frame and four wooden floors for division. Each floor is a designated zone for work, dining, relaxing and sleeping and there’s a bath tub on the roof!

I don’t know how to speak Belgianes, but I am a good learner, oh! I just want to move in!

Stainless Steel Shadows

Such a clever and cool idea!

Adam Frank is a US based artist with such a beautiful and tranquil product!

The Lumen home ware series investigates the concept between light and interactivity.

His art is a series of acid-etched, stainless steel, oil lamp shadow projectors, oh they are just so cool!

It makes me feel like I’m in the woods or a very old theatre… If you love home wares as much as I, hop to it and buy one, I love Bloom.

Tilt Shift Photography

So so cool! The method of photography is called Tilt Shift, see Wiki for more information.

They look like little Thomas The Tank Engine characters, makes me want to just pick them up and let them sit in my hand!

This video was taken at the recent Sydney Mardi Gras in March 2009 from the Court House Hotel, its a perfect vantage point for the event and strangely enough, it's the EXACT window I watched the same event from in 2008.

Flash on Fire

A Dutch department store has made me fall in love with pedal bins all over again… ;P

Take a look at HEMA's product page. It’s all in Dutch, but the product pictures and animation make you want to stay and play.

Just be patient and wait for the page to load and just watch, its like being a child and seeing all the presents on Christmas day… well for me anyways.

Tea 4 You

Anyone for a cuppa?  T2tea

Take the test under Tea 4 Me and be pleasantly surprise with a really sweet web app that helps you determine what tea suits you. This Melbourne based company,T2 have come up with a cool way to promoting their tea products. Apparantly I like my brew Girly Grey or Honey Vanilla ~:P

You can also match your Zodiac star sign with the type of tea you may like, not particularly for me but T2 have catered for a well rounded audience, and I like that :)

More Hearts

One of the most beautifully design and thought out sites I have ever seen… www.bhf.org.uk/annualreview2008

I’ve seen some pretty standard Flash websites with onscreen typography as the main design vehicle but the British Heart Foundation Annual Review website has been designed to perfection in terms of look and feel and houses what looks like a plethora of information on this very important issue, all in a neat and unique interface.

The heart shape homepage navigation is next to perfect. When a nav item is clicked it’s as though it takes you on a windswept experience across your screen, piecing together the information you seek. Getting into more in depth content, it takes on a magazine feel with real-life stories. I would have given this site my complete design and interface stamp of approval had I not been let down by a standard web form… erk

Don’t worry folks, I know it appears I’m going down a heart theme, but this is just coincidental, promise!
